Google’s Universal Analytics (known as ‘Google Analytics’) has now been replaced by Google Analytics 4 (known as GA4).
- GA4 is now Google’s primary analytics platform.
- Google stopped adding and analysing data on Universal Analytics on July 1, 2023.
- On July 1, 2024, all users, including those using GA 360, will lose access to all Universal Analytics properties.
GA4's primary benefit is that it uses enhanced User-Centric Tracking
GA4 shifts your analytics from a session-centric model to a user-centric model. This means it provides a more comprehensive view of user (customer, prospect or visitor) interactions across your devices and platforms, allowing you to better understand user behaviour throughout the entire customer journey.
