In this year’s recent Aviva Broker Barometer report, it found that 43%* of brokers are expecting growth in 2022, and if you’re looking to grow, the chances are you’ll be considering using a marketing agency. So how do you choose the right one?
First of all, create a short-list:
- Start by deciding which sort of marketing service you need. An agency, a marketing consultant, website developer, design studio, or maybe a copywriter?
- Then if you can, get a recommendation from friends or family. If not then have a look at their online reviews.
- Next, open their website. If you’re impressed by how they market themselves then they should be worth contacting.
- Then call them and have a chat. First impressions should tell you a lot.
Note that they’ll probably have questions, so run through this list in advance so you’re more prepared.
Next, you need to meet face to face.
Use the questions below to help to make the meeting more valuable to you:
- How much preparation have they done before the meeting? This will tell you how keen they are to get your business.
- Do they intelligently interrogate your stated business goals - or just accept them?
- Does their knowledge and experience impress you?
- How do they plan to keep you up to date with each element of your marketing campaign?
- Most importantly, are they confident about achieving your set targets within the given timescale and budget allowance?
- Do they have case studies of how they’ve successfully done something similar in the recent past? Will they let you talk to any of their existing clients?
Ultimately, like with any interview, your decision on who to employ will often come down to intuition, but by doing a little preparation in advance, you’re much more likely to end up making the right decision.
